When you first get your Thermomix it's easy to be overwhelmed, with 100,000 built-in recipes, where do you even begin? Well, these recipes are some of our most popular beginner recipes. You may even remember a couple of them from your demonstration. They all demonstrate the extensive functions of the Thermomix, such as mixing, chopping, blending, kneading, steaming, and sautéing, whilst ensuring that the recipes are simple and easy for beginners.
Whilst I have numbered them, they are in no way in any specific order, I couldn't possibly choose one over the other, I love them all too much!
Red Pepper and Tomato Soup:
I'm going to be honest, I'm one of those tomato soup haters, it would genuinely be at the bottom of the list of soups I would choose, but there is something about this soup that puts it at the top of my list every time. So, if you are a tomato soup hater like me, give it a try, I bet I can convert you!
This recipe is great for beginners because it is so simple to make and tastes amazing. From ingredients to table in just 30 minutes, and under 200 calories per portion, it is the perfect quick and healthy meal to try out your new machine. This can either be served as a lunch, starter, or even a main meal, but make sure there is enough, we often find ourselves going back for more!
2. Milk Bread:
Milk Bread is a popular beginner bread to make in your Thermomix. Light and fluffy and not requiring any hand-kneading, it is a great way to show off the kneading and proving capabilities of your machine. The egg wash before baking ensures your bread stays soft, but if you prefer bread with a crust, give the Portuguese Bread a try.
Both are perfectly paired with our next recipe.
3. Butter
Butter couldn't be simpler in your Thermomix, all you need is 5 minutes and a pot of cream and you'll be left with beautiful fresh butter (and buttermilk) to pair with your Milk Bread or Portuguese Bread. I also like to experiment and add some herbs and spices to my butter to create some fun and flavourful variations. My most recent butter had a couple of teaspoons of curry powder in it and was a crowd favourite at the cooking class I was doing.
Aside from the Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, this really is the ultimate crowd-pleaser recipe. This 10-ingredient salad takes only a few minutes to make and has a sweet but tart flavour that is sure to be a hit. It is also only 110 calories per portion, which makes it the perfect lunch by itself, or also as a side with some salmon. Most people are surprised by the raw broccoli aspect, but trust me, it's amazing.
This recipe is a winner with both vegans and non-vegans alike. Ready in only 40 minutes, this shows off your Thermomix's ability to cook a curry and rice all at the same time. It also uses the Varoma attachment on top, so it helps you get to grips with the steaming element of the Thermomix. This recipe is under 250 calories per person so is also healthy, as well as delicious, and the sweet potato helps you stay fuller for longer.
This is actually the first recipe I ever made on my Thermomix. A nice and quick dinner at only 30 minutes, and you don't even need to cook the pasta separately, just weigh in the amount required on screen and it cooks in the sauce! With over 1.6k reviews it is easy to see why this is a favourite recipe of Cookidoo users.
7. Berry Foam
If the other dishes on this list are the crowd-pleasers, this is for sure the show-stopper. Berry Foam is 5 ingredients of sweet goodness, halfway between an ice cream and a mousse, and you can use any frozen fruit you like (my personal favourite is frozen mango). Even people who aren't fond of sweet desserts admit that it is ' amazingly good', and at only 112 calories per portion, it's a lot healthier than you would expect. It's also a fun and brightly coloured dessert that is destined to be popular with children and adults alike.
Spaghetti Bolognese is one of those comfort dishes that are easy to make and everyone loves, however a lot of us reach for the jar of sauce instead of making it from scratch because it is easier. With this simple Cookidoo recipe, you can have a completely homemade bolognese, with only 10 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes of cooking time.
This is another recipe that shows off the amazing capabilities of the Varoma. You have your chicken, rice and sauce, all cooking at once in the same machine, and because the rice is cooked with the sauce, it is full of that lovely lemon flavour, ensuring it comes out beautifully cooked and tasty. This is a slightly longer recipe at 55 minutes but I can promise you it is worth the wait.
For a lot of the Cookidoo cakes, you make your batter in the Thermomix and then transfer it into an oven-proof dish to bake in a conventional oven, but did you know you can also make some beautiful and delicious steamed cakes, entirely in the Thermomix? This steamed chocolate cake is a lovely treat, and it comes out so soft and succulent.
